Draining the fuel filter (diesel engine)
  Note
t  Make sure no diesel fuel runs onto the coolant hoses. If necessary clean the hoses immediately!
t  Collect fuel in a suitable vessel!
t  It is absolutely necessary to observe the oil disposal instructions!
For 2.5 litre engine
    
–  Pull out retaining clip -3- and remove regulating valve -4- with the connected fuel lines.
–  Release the fuel hose and pull it off.
–  Loosen the fuel filter and remove.
   S02-0359
–  Loosen the drain plug -arrow- and drain off approximately 0.1 litres of fluid.
–  Tighten the drain plug.
–  Inspect the fuel system for tightness (visual inspection).
For 1.9 litre engine
   S02-0449
–  Remove Allan screw (8 Nm).
–  Remove the upper part with the connected hoses and lay it to one side.
   S02-0456
–  Release screw -1- and remove fuel filter.
–  Loosen the drain plug and drain off approximately 0.1 litres of fluid.
–  Tighten the drain plug.
–  Inspect the fuel system for tightness (visual inspection).
