Automatic gearbox: change ATF and replace ATF strainer
Special tools and workshop equipment required
t  Catch pan, e.g. -VAS 6208-
t  Top-up ATF container e.g. -V.A.G 1924-
t  Vehicle diagnosis, measurement and information system -VAS-
  Note
t  If contamination or a dark colour of the oil or water in the oil is noticed during a quality inspection, the oil must be changed → Anchor.
t  If the oil is black and smells strongly, this can cause one of the gearshift elements to burn →Automatic gearbox 01V; Rep. gr.37.
t  The oil must be clean and must not contain any additives.
t  It must be topped up only with Škoda Original ATF → Electronic Catalogue of Original Parts and no additional agent must be used!
t  The engine must not be started without ATF and the vehicle must not be towed!
t  Observe the disposal instructions.
Valid for vehicles which are driven in countries with subtropical and tropical climate → Anchor, and for Taxi vehicles.
Replace ATF strainer
–  Remove oil pan →Automatic gearbox 01V; Rep. gr.38.
    
–  Release two screws for oil strainer -arrows-.
–  Remove the oil strainer from the slide valve body.
–  Coat the seal on the intake collar of the oil strainer with ATF.
–  Carefully press the intake collar of the oil strainer up to the stop into the hole on the slide valve body.
–  Tighten oil strainer -arrows- to 6 Nm.
–  Install oil pan →Automatic gearbox 01V; Rep. gr.38.
–  Top up with ATF and inspect ATF level → Anchor.
Change ATF
  Note
Oil drain plug with seal must always be replaced.
   N38-0071
–  Attach the top-up container to the vehicle.
–  Remove the sound dampening system →Body Work; Rep. gr.50.
–  Place the catch pan, e.g. -VAS 6208- underneath.
   N37-0878
–  Remove oil drain plug -arrow 1-.
–  Drain the ATF.
–  Screw in new oil drain plug -arrow 1- and tighten to 40 Nm.
–  Remove the ATF inspection plug -arrow 2-.
   N37-0484
–  Fit top-up container, e.g. -V.A.G 1924-, in the drilled cap -arrow- without pressing the cap down.
–  Add ATF until it begins to flow out of the inspection opening.
–  Shift selector lever into position „P“.
–  Start engine, press the brake pedal.
–  While the vehicle is standing, shift through all selector lever positions once, leaving each selector lever position engaged for approx. 10 seconds.
–  Shift selector lever into position „P“.
–  Switch off engine.
–  Then check ATF level and top up ATF → Chapter.
–  Tighten the ATF level check screw -arrow- with a new seal, 80 Nm.

–  Install the noise insulation →Body Work; Rep. gr.50.
